Student-Athletes, Staff Recognized at Impact & Excellence Awards
Athletic Department honored 11 student-athletes and one staff member
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College athletic department, in conjunction with the Office of Student Engagement and the Student Government Association, celebrated its institutional award winners at the annual Impact & Excellence Awards Thursday evening at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Annapolis.
The Athletic Department honored 11 student-athletes and one AACC staff member for excellence on the field, in the community, and in the classroom. In addition, two student-athletes were recognized with awards from the College.

Louis L. Siegert – Outstanding Student-Athlete on a Women's Team

This award recognizes the student-athlete on a women's team across all athletic programs for their outstanding achievements in the classroom and on the field or court.
Dr. David S. Jenkins – Outstanding Student-Athlete on a Men's Team
James Kavney, Men's Lacrosse
This award recognizes the student-athlete on a men's team across all athletic programs for their outstanding achievements in the classroom and on the field or court.
Dr. Andrew G. Truxal – Outstanding Second-Year Student-Athlete on a Men's Team
Camden Hodges, Baseball
This award recognizes a student-athlete in their second season of competition on a men's team for their outstanding achievements in the classroom and on the field or court.

McKenzie Gilbert, Women's Soccer, Women's Basketball, & Women's Golf
This award recognizes a student-athlete in their second season of competition on a women's team for their outstanding achievements in the classroom and on the field or court.

This award recognizes a member of a men's team who exhibits unwavering character in all that they do in the classroom and on the court or field. This honoree not only uplifts their teammates, but shows respect and dignity to their opponents.

Bruce Springer Appreciation Award
Geoffrey Barber, AACC Purchasing Agent/Procurement Card Coordinator
This award recognizes a non-student-athlete who has demonstrated dedication and exemplary service to AACC Athletics. The award is named after Bruce Springer, who served 45 years at the college as an instructor, coach, coordinator of athletics and athletic director.
Dean William Evans – Scholar-Athlete on a Women's Team
Nadia Suber, Volleyball
This award recognizes the scholar-athlete of the year on a women's team for their accomplishments within the classroom. The award takes into consideration credits attempted in the academic year, total credits earned, grade point average, academic rigor and additional service to the College, while balancing the requirements of being a student-athlete.
Dr. John S. Laycock – Scholar-Athlete on a Men's Team

This award recognizes the scholar-athlete of the year on a men's team for their accomplishments within the classroom. The award takes into consideration credits attempted in the academic year, total credits earned, grade point average, academic rigor and additional service to the College, while balancing the requirements of being a student-athlete.
