NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Anne Arundel Community College baseball swept its doubleheader against Virginia Peninsula on Saturday, exploding for 28 runs across two games behind standout performances from Aidan Graham, Chris Ricks and a deep, productive lineup. The Riverhawks took the opener, 13–6, behind a five‑run second inning and a four‑RBI day from Ricks, then followed with a dominant 15–4 victory in the nightcap as Graham homered twice and sparked a seven‑run fourth that secured the sweep.
Game 1: AACC 13, Virginia Peninsula 6
Graham and Ricks led a 16‑hit outburst as Graham went 2‑for‑3 with two runs, two RBIs and a double, while Ricks reached base three times, scored three runs and homered to start a five‑run second inning for the Riverhawks.
AACC (3-1) broke the game open with five in the second and added two more in both the third and fourth innings. Jack Woods finished 4‑for‑5 with two RBIs, and Ryan Jones added two hits and scored twice. Camden Hodges doubled in a run and reached three times.
Gunnar Gemmell started and allowed one run over two innings, while the bullpen combination of Chase Hannon, Evan Birch and Clint Dorval held the Gophers to five hits. AACC's defense overcame three errors by turning key outs in the late innings. Virginia Peninsula managed six runs on five hits, including a pair of RBI doubles in the sixth.
Game 2: AACC 15, Virginia Peninsula 4
Graham homered twice and drove in four as AACC completed the sweep with a 15–4 win in the nightcap, scoring 15 runs in the first four innings.
Graham reached base four times and scored three runs, while Camden Hodges added a two‑run homer during a seven‑run fourth that put the game out of reach. AJ Cozzone doubled twice and scored two runs, and Matt Dove went 2‑for‑2 with two runs and two walks. Jack Woods and Ricks each drove in multiple runs as AACC finished with 12 hits.
Gavin Glos earned the win after allowing three runs across three innings before Matt Donaldson worked two strong frames in relief. AACC pitchers allowed just five hits and struck out six. Virginia Peninsula scored three in the first but managed only one more run the rest of the way.
AACC is scheduled to be back in action this weekend hosting SUNY Orange for a four-game series Saturday and Sunday.
