Joe Snowden has been a fixture in the AACC community for more than four decades, and is the longest-tenured coach at AACC having had a hand in the AACC basketball programs since 1993.

Snowden began his AACC coaching career as assistant for the women’s team under Tom Smith beginning in 1993, helping the Riverhawks to the Maryland JUCO title. In 1997 the team was ranked seventh in the nation. He continued as the assistant coach until 2000 when he took the helm as women’s head coach for three seasons.

He served as the men's assistant coach beginning in 2007, helping lead the Riverhawks to the 2013 Region title. He took over the program in 2015, reaching the Region 20 title game four times with a Region title in 2020. Snowden also did double duty in the 1995-96 season, serving as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's teams. 

Snowden has coaching experience at many playing levels, including AAU, county recreational programs, and statewide leagues for both boys and girls. He led the Severna Park Hornets, Baltimore division, to the state title in 1990.

Snowden retired from full-time work at Anne Arundel Community College in 2014 after 30 years of service.
