Hot Shooting Keeps Men's Basketball Close in Narrow Loss to Cecil
Riverhawks hit 12 of 17 three-pointers in game
ARNOLD, Md. — The Anne Arundel Community College men's basketball team put together one of its most efficient offensive outings of the season but came up short in a high-scoring 87–82 loss to Cecil College in Region 20 divisional play on Saturday at Jenkins Gym.
The Riverhawks shot 42.4% from the field and an impressive 12-for-17 (70.6%) from three-point range while placing five players in double figures. Zamar Jones powered AACC from deep, knocking down six of eight 3-pointers in 26 minutes off the bench.
Ryan Stacy added 17 points and six assists while going 9-for-10 at the free-throw line. Jaylen Marbley scored 19 points, including a 9-for-10 mark at the line, and John Hutton chipped in 12 points with a pair of threes.
Al-Ameen Sanni delivered a complete performance with nine points, eight rebounds, four blocks, and three assists.
AACC trailed 42–34 at halftime but surged to take a brief second-half lead behind an 11–3 run fueled by Jones and Stacy. Cecil (3–5, 1–0 Region 20) responded with timely shooting and a 27-point outing from Marcus Edmond Jr., holding off the Riverhawks in the closing minutes.
Anne Arundel is off until the first weekend in December when they travel to Penn Highlands and Potomac State.
