Men's Basketball Fends of Baltimore City In Narrow Win
Riverhawks hold on for first win of season, 68-66
ARNOLD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's basketball team earned its first win of the season in dramatic fashion, edging Division I Baltimore City Community College, 68–66, in a nail-biter that came down to the final seconds.
Ryan Stacy led AACC with 22 points, four assists and four steals. Jaylen Marbley scored 18 with a pair of timely three-pointers in the second half to go with a team-high five steals. Al-Ameen Sanni recorded his third double-double in a row with 17 points and 15 points while adding four steals.
AACC jumped out to an early 14-0 lead behind strong inside play and timely three-point shooting, and carried a 27–23 advantage into halftime. The pace quickened in the second half and BCCC clawed back from a double-digit deficit to tie the game at 47–47 with 8:34 left.
The Riverhawks regained control with a Stacy layup with 4:13 left later followed by a clutch three from Marbley with 1:49 remaining to give AACC a six-point cushion, 66-60. BCCC scored four-straight points to cut the lead back down to one with 39 seconds left before Stacy hit a free throw with eight seconds left to push the Riverhawks back up by two. After calling after calling its final time out with just 3.5 ticks left on the clock and inbounding the ball at their bench, BCCC saw its last second jumper clang off the side of the backboard.
Baltimore City led the rebounding battle, 38-30, and outscored AACC, 36-28, in the paint. AACC went 6-for-14 from three-point range and used its transition game to score 12 fast-break points.
AACC (1-7) is now idle until Saturday, January 10, 2026, when the Riverhawks travel to Garrett for a 3 p.m. Region 20 divisional game.
