Trifecta: Men's Golf Wins Third-Straight Region Title
Will Maddox wins second-straight individual title
EDGEWATER, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's golf team won its third consecutive NJCAA Region 20 DII championship Tuesday at the Golf Club at South River. Sophomore Will Maddox repeated as the individual champion.
AACC led by 10 strokes after the first round and finished 20 strokes ahead of second-place Hagerstown and 54 strokes ahead of the College of Southern Maryland in third. The Riverhawks combined for 12 birdies on the second day of play
Maddox finished the 36-hole event at eight-over, carding a 74 in the first round and a 76 on day two. Eddie Sarrach finished one stroke back (+9) with a 75 round on Monday and a 76 on Tuesday. Alexei Voice (+16) finished in fourth place with two rounds of 79, joining Maddox and Sarrach on the All-Region 20 Team.
Tommy Eisel finished 11th overall at +29 with rounds of 86 and 85. Troy Basham rounded out the scoring in the first round with a 96, while Declan McClure carded an 82 as substitute in the second round.
Up next for the Riverhawks is the NJCAA Division II Southeast District Championship April 26-28 at The Country Club in Morristown, Tennessee.
