Men's Lacrosse Falls to No. 4 Nassau
Riverhawks host Howard CC April 10th
ARNOLD, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's lacrosse team fell to No. 4 Nassau Community College, 23-7, Sunday afternoon at Siegert Field. Six Riverhawks recorded at least one point in the game, led by five from freshman Alex Patton, who scored two goals and assisted three others.
Freshman David Law scored two goals and had two assists, while Aaron Herdt, James Kavney, and Evan Davidson each scored a goal. Sophomore Jake Howard picked up an assist.
Nassau (4-3) scored the first seven goals of the game before Law scored on a breakaway after a pass from Howard off the wing with 1:46 remaining in the first quarter.
AACC (4-3) went on a three-goal run in the first two minutes of the second quarter, bookmarked by goals from Patton around Davidson's goal, also assisted by Patton.
Nassau responded with a six-goal run before Law cut across the crease to plant a pass from Patton at X to score his second of the game with 2:02 remaining before halftime.
Kavney broke up a three-goal Nassau run in the third, firing from just inside the restraining line after a give-and-go from Patton off Kavney's faceoff win.
Herdt scored the Riverhawks' lone goal in the fourth, popping in a pass from Law just outside the crease.
Kavney finished 20-for-25 at the faceoff x for AACC, while Ethan Johnson won five of eight draws. Kavney currently leads the NJCAA in faceoff percentage at 77% (141-183).
AACC keeper Ian Roberts made nine saves before giving way to Mitch Riith in the final five minutes.
Both teams had 34 groundballs in the game. Kavney had 11, while Johnson and Howard each had four.
AACC is idle until Friday, April 10, when the Riverhawks host Howard Community College in their Region 20 regular season finale at Siegert Field.
