Smoot, Betts Named to All-Region 20 First Team

ARNOLD, Md. – Two members of the Anne Arundel Community College softball team have been named to the 2026 All-Region 20 DII Softball First Team, it was announced Wednesday. Ryleigh Smoot earned the accolade at catcher, while Jayda Betts was honored as an infielder.
Smoot led AACC and ranked sixth in Region 20 with a .471 batting average in 24 games for the Riverhawks. She collected 33 hits on the season while leading the team with nine doubles and 24 RBIs. Smoot led the team with a .513 on-base percentage, and struck out just four times in 70 at-bats. She ended the year on a nine-game hit streak, all against Region opponents.
Betts, who primarily played shortstop, hit .452 in 24 games this season, recording at least one hit in all but three games. She struck out just twice in 73 at-bats, with none coming against Region 20 divisional opponents. Betts collected 33 total hits including seven doubles and a pair of triples. She had an on-base percentage of .512, and once on the basepaths, was successful in all 25 steal attempts, the third highest stolen base total in Region 20.
