HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College women's soccer team earned Region 20 road victory Thursday, defeating Division I Hagerstown Community College, 3-2, behind a brace from Emma Miga and a goal from Eleyna Entsminger.
Entsminger opened the scoring in the 26th minute, finishing off a pass from Miga to put the Riverhawks in front. Hagerstown responded late in the first half, equalizing in the 43rd minute on a strike from Peyton Miller to send the teams into halftime tied at 1-1.
Anne Arundel regained control early in the second half. Miga converted in the 55th minute off an assist from Entsminger, then added her second goal on a penalty kick in the 63rd minute to extend the lead to 3-1. Hagerstown quickly cut the deficit to one when Macy Rhinaman scored in the 65th minute, but the Riverhawks' defense held firm the rest of the way.
Goalkeeper Ryleigh Smoot recorded four saves for AACC, which outshot Hagerstown 22-11.
Anne Arundel improved to 6-3 overall and returns to divisional action Tuesday, September 30, with a 5 p.m. home game against Garett College.
