Women's Soccer to Host Sussex in District Championship Friday
Riverhawks look to win second-straight District title
The 18th-ranked Anne Arundel Community College women's soccer team is set to host Sussex County Community College in the NJCAA Division II East District Championship Friday at 12 p.m.
How They Got Here
A late goal lifted the Riverhawks (15-4) to a 3-2 win over top seed College of Southern Maryland in the Region 20 Championship last Saturday at Howard Community College. Freshman Alyssa Simms scored with 11 seconds left in the game to lead AACC to its second-straight Region 20 title.
The Skylanders (12-2) defeated Mercer County Community College, 2-1, in double overtime to win the Region 19 title for the first time since 2022. Abby Mara headed in a free kick from Sage Henry to win the game with one minute remaining in the second OT.
Leaders
Riverhawks sophomore forward Emma Miga leads the NJCAA in goals (31) and points (74). She scored her 100th career point on sophomore night against CCBC Catonsville on October 16th. Simms (14 goals) and Eleyna Entsminger (10) join Miga with double-digit goals. AACC's defense has limited opponents to just 92 shots on goal this season (4.84 per game), and is backstopped by keeper Ryleigh Smoot, who strung together a shutout streak of 463:21, spanning the last seven games.
Sussex, which began the season on a nine-game win streak, is led offensively by freshman forward Leah English, who has 21 goals and 12 assists for 54 points. Freshman midfielder Abby Marra has totaled 20 points on nine goals and a pair of assists. Freshman keeper Naelle Jouan has played every minute in goal and has recorded eight shutouts.

Admission to Friday's game at Siegert Field is free. Free parking, including ADA parking, is available in D Lot, which is adjacent to Siegert Field. Restrooms are located atop the grandstand, and there is an additional accessible portable restroom at field level. Please note that AACC's campus is 100% tobacco free, including vapes. Animals are not permitted at Siegert Field, with the exception of service animals.
