HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The Anne Arundel Community College men's soccer team fell, 6-3, on the road Saturday, as Hagerstown Community College used a five-goal second half to secure the Region 20 victory.
Anne Arundel opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Carlos Montoya finished off a pass from Stephen Liberati for his first goal of the season. Hagerstown answered in the 33rd minute through Ben Rankin, assisted by Cole Robins and Eric Jacobs, sending the match to halftime tied 1-1.
Hagerstown surged after the break, scoring twice in the opening 12 minutes. Jackson Baer converted in the 50th minute and Kundai Makusha added another in the 57th to make it 3-1. Anne Arundel stormed back with goals from Aydan Simms in the 68th minute and Jack Bell two minutes later to pull even at 3-3.
Hagerstown quickly regained control, as Finlay Smith scored in the 77th minute and Carson Feeser struck less than a minute later. Smith added his second of the match in the 89th to seal the 6-3 win.
AACC goalkeepers Ethan Kiniry and Dylan Cunningham each had one save. Hagerstown finished with 11 shots, eight on goal, while Anne Arundel recorded 15 shots and 12 on target.
The Riverhawks return home on Tuesday, September 30, hosting Garrett College in a 7 p.m. Region 20 divisional game at Siegert Field. AACC will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the game with an all-Spanish event, Noche Latina.
